Digital Futures Bilingual Studio
A bilingual broadcast studio - we produce in English and Spanish,
in both video and podcasting format.

Digital Futures was formed, in part with the generous donation of an entire broadcast studio by KVOA-Channel 4. When the station built a new digital studio from the ground up, MarComm arranged for hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of broadcast equipment and TV sets to be acquired by the University. MarComm has since purchased new equipment and students have helped to refurbish and reconstruct studio walls and news TV sets.
The studio is run by Nancy Montoya and University of Arizona students from Journalism - Theater, Film & TV and Communications. Some are paid UArizona employees and others are earning 3-units of UArizona class credit per semester.
Meet the Student Workers
The studio also acts as a training lab for UArizona students to learn the real world basics of Television and audio production. This is a hands-on lab with professional equipment and video/audio projects produced for University colleges, departments, Spanish language TV and the PBS Newshour through the PBS supported Student Reporting Labs.
The PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Lab consists of more than a hundred SRL's (Student Reporting Labs) around the country - this one is the only SRL at the University level. All others are housed in high schools.
All work is supervised by longtime national and international award winning radio and TV news broadcaster Nancy Montoya.
